Prof. Dr. Stefan Stiene promovierte in Informatik an der Universität Osnabrück. Nach seiner Promotion im Jahr 2009 arbeitete er für die ROSEN Technology and Research Center GmbH an der Entwicklung intelligenter Inspektionssysteme für Gas- und Ölpipelines. 2011 trat er als Senior Researcher in die DFKI-Forschungsgruppe Robotik ein. Seit 2016 leitet er das DFKI-Kompetenzzentrum Smart Agriculture Technologies und leitet seit 2021 das GAIA-X-Forschungsprojekt Agri-Gaia. Seit September 2021 ist er Professor für Intelligente Agrarsysteme an der Hochschule Osnabrück.
